Time for a Computer Upgrade or to Replace it?

One of the biggest questions I always hear is this: "Should I upgrade my computer?". The answer is actually not as easy as one would hope. The first thing you need to consider is how old is your computer? If the computer is over 5 years old... chances are that it is not worth an upgrade at this time outside maybe memory or a larger hard drive and that is even a maybe depending on use. But then again, I still use a 6 year old (almost 7 year old) computer and it is still doing website design, playing most games, finances and building spreadsheets and forms for clients.

Upgrading your computer takes a bit of cash and is not usually as cheap as it first appears. It takes learning a little about your computer and not guessing at what it needs. Example; does it take Dimms, Simms, DDR, DDR2, DDR3 memory? Is the Video port PCI, AGP, AGP4, AGP8, PCI Express, no Port? Once done, this section is going to teach you HOW to answer these questions and WHAT to look for to know in a glance. For those wanting the quick and simple answer, my forum will have a section that will explain what to send me so I can give you a reccomendation of upgrade or replace.

Currently, I'm focused on finishing with a more critical section which is Malware and its removeal. Once that section's basics are complete, I will be moving into the Maintenance section working on the basics of maintaining your computer.

In the mean time, if you have questions do not hesitate to click on the contact me page and ask them. I will answer them as quickly as I can.
